After much anticipation HIMSS21 is finally scheduled for August 9 - 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Naturally, this year’s edition of the major technology event for the global healthcare industry will
run a little differently. Whilst determined to make it a success,
HIMSS organizers are also taking steps to ensure the exhibit follows all the necessary health and safety rules. This is why - in order to be granted access to the Las Vegas event - HIMSS attendees, speakers, and exhibitors will be asked to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or must show a negative COVID test within 72 hours of entering the event.
Following WHO guidelines, a person is considered fully vaccinated at least two weeks after the
second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna shot has been administered, or a week after a single-shot
Johnson & Johnson’s Jannsen. Whilst the details regarding communication and confirmation of
immunization status are still to be determined, HIMSS organizers are investigating privacy-
preserving technological approaches to H & S.
In the aftermath of one of the biggest disruptions of our times, much of the HIMSS21 focus will
be on those specific post-pandemic technology challenges such as unreliable wireless
connectivity, poor clinical communications, vulnerable data, and wireless device rollouts. The
event will prompt participants to explore current trends and brainstorm solutions to common
roadblocks encountered in the new normal.
Clinical Mobility Founder and CEO Shawn Jackman will also be speaking on a panel on the
topic “The future of wireless for healthcare delivery organizations” organized by the Healthcare
Technology Alliance. In the discussion, we will review the new and forthcoming wireless
technologies your organization needs to know about--5G, CBRS, and Wi-Fi 6E.
The aim is to pierce through the marketing hype and provide real insights into how these
wireless technologies will and will not benefit your healthcare organization. The panel will take
place Tuesday, Aug 10 at 3 pm.
The exhibit will also feature interesting panel discussions analyzing emerging approaches to
healthcare informatics, wireless infrastructure and devices, security and privacy, applications
and technology, usability, telemedicine, and managing data.
